A downloadable game for Windows


Tan-Tan-Tanuki is a 2d platformer that I made to make it fun to learn about Yokai and to introduce people to the world of Yokai and Japanese folklore. 



You play as a kid who is transformed into a Tanuki and is transported to the Yokai Realm. To get back home, you must seek out the Tanuki elders and thwart the Kitsune's trickery along the way, in order for the elders to change you back and send you home.  As you journey through the caverns in search for said elders, you will encounter various Yokai that may help or hinder you on your quest.


Along the way you will meet various Yokai that will either help you or get in your way such as the sly Kitsune or the viscous Waniguchi. Meet Yokai from Japan's folktales such as Shukaku of Morin-ji Temple who will aid you on your journey back home to the Human World.

Cute jumping game with cultural references to Japanese fox demons.

I like the effects when the Tanuki touches a Yokai and the screen vibrates. The speed of the Tanuki sprite walking and jumping is quite intuitive.

Did not like the 'thup' sound whenever the Tanuki lands after jumping. gets a little irritating. Also, the last stage's logic is off. If I answered the question wrongly, the answer is still shown as the wall with no 'X'. So I did not need to talk to the NPC again and can complete the round.
